Welcome into 2008

The team here at Powerflex Fence thanks you for your patronage and support !  2007 was a good year as well as an enjoyable one. The first quarter of 2008 has kept our noses to the grindstone - and we thank you for that. The second quarter of 2008 has kept as busy as well.

We all  are still  having some concerns regarding FUEL, FREIGHT AND STEEL prices. Fuel prices remain high, on an upward trend. Steel pricing seems to almost be on a day to day upward surge. We don't know what the future holds but we feel that many of these factors DO make your grass just all that more valuable. Take good care of your grass and limit your input costs. Good fencing and water distribution for your livestock are things that you CAN do something about.

We had trade show booths at a lot of "Grazing Conferences" here in the Midwest USA from January through March this year. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us at those conferences and events.  I have posted a couple more shows that we will be at this spring.

Hi-tensile wire prices have increased steadly over the past 6 months, however it is still a good buy compared to the other alternatives. Our wire business has remained brisk during all these price increases and we ARE maintaining a good stock of wire. If you have a project coming up - let us know and we will do our best to get product to you at a fair price.

HOW TO DO IT VIDEOS !  We recently purchased a nice video recorder and I am presently shooting footage and "learning the software" to make these clips into short movies. I plan to put some flash clips on the website as well as burn off some CD's on some of the more involved subjects. These little hi-tech gadgets truly amaze me. (UPDATE: I'm still learning!)

Below are some of the Tradeshows

that we will be at this fall - 2008.

We were pleased to have our Powerflex Post Distributor from Ireland visiting our facilities today. I throughly enjoyed the visit. It is so interesting to me to talk to other people from around the world to get a better feel for how things are done differently, or in some cases, much the same. Bertie Troy of GRASSTEC is doing a good job of getting Powerflex Posts seen, and in use, in the British Isles. He is currently locating new distrubitors in the British Isles and Europe.  There are dealer opportunities in Europe at present.  To go to GRASSTEC'S website  CLICK HERE

A rainy day job

 in Missouri

The remains of hurricane Gustav is now dumping out its load of rain over the Ozarks of Arkansas & Missouri. The weather guys are telling us we will  have 3 days of rain. So, Heather & Pam are in the warehouse,  taking advantage of a rainy day by labeling a new edition of the Grazer's Connection. I just took them some coffee. What great ladies these are.....We hope to be mailing it early next week if not sooner.

Feb 26th

Jim Gerrish was the Keynote Speaker at the Spring Forage Conference in Springfield Missouri on February 26th. This was another great conference with a little over 400 in attendance. We always look forward this this conference. Jim was also available at our booth to sign his book "Management - intensive Grazing, The Grassroots of Grazing"

The 27th was also Jims Birthday, so he graciously accepted to allow us to take him out for dinner after the Conference.  We won't embarrass him by mentioning his age in this line of text.........however,  Happy Birthday Jim.

David attended FIELDAYS in New Zealand in June. He was quite impressed with the fencing competition held there. It has been going on for the past 37 years and many of the competitors come back year after year. It is a very prestigious competition and they take a lot of pride on their work over there.  The event is based on time but also on quality of workmanship. All materials are furnished identically to each team, but each crew uses their own tools. I've posted some photos below:

The above photo is of a floating angle brace with a buried deadman.
